FAQ
What do you want to know?
When will i get my coffee?
We currently roast on Mondays and Thursdays.
Order Monday afternoon - Thursday morning? It'll ship Friday
Order Thursday afternoon - Monday morning? It'll ship Tuesday
For more info see our shipping policy.
Is my coffee ready to drink straight away?
Strictly speaking, yes. But it won't be at its best. We always recommend that you wait until at least a week past the roast date before brewing. This is to allow the coffee to 'degas', allowing all of the CO2 that's released during the roasting process to escape the beans, which in turn allows the taste of the coffee to develop and settle.
How should i store my coffee?
The best place for your coffee is in a cool, dark, dry place. Kitchen cupboards fit the bill nicely.
To maximise freshness, it's a good idea to put your coffee in an airtight container.
Fridges are NOT the best place for your coffee. The moisture in fridges will cause it to stale far more quickly.
How should I brew my coffee?
However you enjoy it!
But for those of you looking for a little more detail, we're working on a series of brew guides that'll allow you to easily get the best from your brews. You'll be able to access them from the QR code on the back of every bag. We'll let you all know as soon as they're available!
In the meantime, as a couple of rules of thumb for dosing:
Cafetiere/french press
Make your brew using 60g of coffee per litre of water. Steep for 4 minutes and plunge.
filter
Use the same 60g/litre dose. Extraction times will vary depending on your specific brewer.
Espresso
We usually start with an 18g dose to 40g of liquid in the cup, aiming for around 30 seconds from the pump starting to the end of the brew. Adjust grind size, extraction time and end yield to taste.
